conversations for the community

Shop talk Live is all about action.

In accordance with the meaning of Sharif Nassir’s name…Honorable Protector…HPI is currently conducting and supporting community outreach programs for homeless youth, supporting community coat drives for under-resourced and overlooked children, sponsoring community conversations focused on and led by youth to address their unique challenges, and a number of other youth focused initiatives with community partners in Denver, CO and Alexandria, VA.  The curriculum from the standard Shop Talk Live format is broken down to the basics, and we engage the youth in a language that is appropriate, accessible, and effective, but most importantly we listen to our youth and encourage them to speak up and out for their concerns.

As a result of this, over time we are seeing a positive transformation in scholastic performance and behavioral patterns of the children and youth under our guidance.  The HPI represents the Shop Talk Live commitment to the betterment of the future generations of our community.  We will not only serve our children with honor, we will honorably protect them.

Mentoring, coaching and fellowship

Honorable Protector Initiative

The Honorable Protector Initiative (HPI) is a Shop Talk Live, Inc mentoring, coaching, and fellowship program named in honor of and inspired by the short lived life of Sharif Nassir.  It is designed to encourage the development and improvement of lives of children in our community.

Sharif Nassir’s legacy, though only four years in the making, is a legacy ripe with love, hope, understanding, growth, and the honorable protection of his family.  Sharif Nassir represents a love that is truly unconditional, knows no limits, has no left and right boundaries, and today continues to exist without parameters.  His is a love that only a child, in this case a loving son, can inspire and bring to fruition for his family…especially his father who Sharif Nassir often referred to as his “best friend.”  A son inspired by his father to always appear neat and clean, and to conduct himself in a gentlemanly manner.

Black Dollars Matter

Black Business Initiative

The Black Business Initiative is committed to growing a stronger Black presence in the Colorado business community. The BBI works toward this goal by concentrating its efforts in one specific area: Cooperative Economics. We believe that helping individuals create and grow healthy businesses will provide economic self-sufficiency and a better future for African Americans looking for career options while creating jobs within a community that traditionally experiences extremely high unemployment.

Our Mission

To grow Black owned businesses through education, mentorship, investment, community and need, our objectives are to:

  • Support the creation, mentorship and investment of a minimum of 1 new business per month or 12 new businesses per year, per city we launch the program.

  • Create a change in values within the Black community that encourage individuals to increase spending inside our communities from 2% to 10% over the next 5 years.

  • Create and support programs that increase the circulation of dollars spent within the Black community from 6 hours to 30 hours over the next 5 years.
